The Wohlenberg City 5000 perfect binder installed by Colter & Peterson represents a big upgrade for SanMar.

Paterson, NJ – Colter & Peterson,
North America’s only distributor for the complete line of Wohlenberg perfect binders, has just completed the installation of a Wohlenberg City 5000 perfect binder for SanMar, the largest
apparel and accessory supplier in the U.S. for the imprintables industry in Issaquah, WA.

“This is a big upgrade compared to the system that SanMar had in terms of speed, quality and binding,” says Tom Welby, Vice President of Perfect Binder Products for Colter & Peterson.

According to Mark Suda, Production Supervisor for SanMar’s Catalog Printing Department, the new arrival has certainly created a buzz in their pressroom.

“We’re excited about adding the perfect binder,” says Suda. “We’re adding a new press in order to keep up with the machine.”

SanMar helped increase capabilities for the Wohlenberg City 5000 perfect binder by purchasing a book block feeder and a collator that allows them to run books through the machine’s four pockets instead of hand feeding them which saves a lot of labor.

“The book block gives us the capability of running four separate jobs just by pushing a button,” says Suda.

The installation process took two and a half weeks for Colter & Peterson to complete including testing to ensure top performance and SanMar couldn’t have been more pleased.

“Everything went according to schedule,” says Suda.
